If It Felt Easy, They Didn't Learn It
Transcript
Ever read a really clear explanation, nodded the whole way through, and then couldn't explain it five minutes later? That's what studying with AI can feel like.
Say a student doesn't get why the moon changes shape. They ask a chatbot, it gives them a great explanation, and it all makes sense. That feeling is real. It's just not the same thing as having learned it.
A good explanation feels easy from the inside. You're following somebody else's thinking, and following is a lot easier than doing it yourself.
So here's how our course checks. Let them use the AI. Then close the laptop and have them explain it, out loud or on paper, to someone younger. Maybe they can say the first part, but not the why.
That gap is normal. Everybody has one. I have one. The point is to find it now, while there's still time to fix it, instead of on the test.
